Control-M for Azure VM Scale Sets

Azure VM Scale Sets enables you to deploy and manage a group of identical, load‑balanced virtual machines that can automatically scale based on demand or schedule.

Control-M for Azure VM Scale Sets enables you to do the following:

• Run VMSS actions, such as create, update, start, stop, restart, delete, reimage, or redeploy instances in a scale set.

• Manage Azure VM Scale Sets credentials in a secure connection profile.

• Connect to any Azure VM Scale Sets endpoint.

• Introduce all Control-M capabilities to Control-M for Azure VM Scale Sets, including advanced scheduling criteria, complex dependencies, resource pools, lock resources, and variables.

• Integrate Azure VM Scale Sets jobs with other Control-M jobs into a single scheduling environment.

• Monitor the status, results, and output of Azure VM Scale Sets jobs.

• Attach an SLA job to the Azure VM Scale Sets jobs.

Setting up Control-M for Azure VM Scale Sets

This procedure describes how to deploy the Azure VM Scale Sets plug-in, create a connection profile, and define a Azure VM Scale Sets job in Control-M SaaS and Automation API.

Before You Begin

• Verify that Java is installed, as described in Control-M External Java Installation.

• Verify that Automation API is installed, as described in Setting Up the API.

• Verify that Agent version 9.0.21.080 or higher is installed.

Begin

1. Run one of the following provision image commands:

   • Linux: ctm provision image Azure_VM_Scale_Sets_plugin.Linux

   • Windows: ctm provision image Azure_VM_Scale_Sets_plugin.Windows

2. Create a Azure VM Scale Sets connection profile in Control-M SaaS or Automation API, as follows:

   • Control-M SaaS: Create a Centralized Connection Profile with Azure VM Scale Sets Connection Profile Parameters

   • Automation API: ConnectionProfile:Azure VM Scale Sets

3. Define a Azure VM Scale Sets job in Control-M SaaS or Automation API, as follows:

   • Control-M SaaS: Create a Job with Azure VM Scale Sets Job parameters

   • Automation API: Job:Azure VM Scale Sets
