Time Zones
By default, SMART folders and jobs run and execute in the time zone where the Control-M/Server is located. You can change the time zone where your SMART folders and jobs run and execute in the scheduling criteria, as described in Scheduling. You can also define Site Standard rules with time zones, as described in Creating a Site Standard Rule.
You can configure Control-M Self-Hosted to add all worldwide time zones, map existing time zones to this list, and automatically update them to accommodate for daylight-savings time (DST). This eliminates the need to manually add new time zones and update their yearly DST changes in the TimeZone.dat file, which is stored on Control-M/EM server, Control-M/Server, and Control-M client. For more information, see Configuring Automatic Time Zone Management.
Jobs that are scheduled to run in a time zone that is different from the Control-M/Server time must be saved at least 48 hours before their intended execution dates. Jobs defined with different time zones must not be combined in the same folder. This ensures that the jobs automatically run via the appropriate New Day procedure or User Daily method. If a newly scheduled job has to run today, you must run it manually. For more information on New Day
Configuring Automatic Time Zone ManagementLink copied to clipboard
This procedure describes how to configure automatic time zone management, which enables Control-M Self-Hosted to make all worldwide time zones available in Control-M Self-Hosted and automatically accommodates for DST. Automatic time zone management eliminates the need to manually update the TimeZone.dat file to add time new time zones or define DST.
-
This feature is not enabled by default.
-
After you configure automatic time zone management, you can no longer manually add or edit time zones.
Before You Begin
-
Verify that self-hosted Control-M/EM and all connected self-hosted Control-M/Servers are version 9.0.22.
-
Verify that all time zone IDs that are defined in the TimeZone.dat files on each connected self-hosted Control-M/Server appear in the TimeZone.dat file on the self-hosted Control-M/EM server.
Begin
-
Log in to the account where Control-M/EM is installed.
-
(Optional) Run the following command to see an explanation of the em em_manage_tz utility attributes:
em em_manage_tz -h
-
Run the following command to verify that Control-M/EM is not configured for automatic time zone management.
em em_manage_tz -status
The following message appears:
The Control-M Environment is not Time Zone Managed.
If the Control-M Environment is time zone managed, you do not need to complete this procedure.
-
Do the following:
-
Run the following command to map existing time zones that are defined in the TimeZone.dat file to its time zone name:
em em_manage_tz -map
If no time zones are defined, record the mapping filename that appears and skip to the next major (numbered) step.
If time zones are defined in the TimeZone.dat file, the following appears:
-
Currently Defined Time Zone IDs: A list of the time zones IDs that are currently defined in all job scheduling criteria.
The following time zones are defined in job scheduling criteria: ['PST'] ['ANC']
-
Suggested Time Zone Names: A list of time zones names to replace the defined time zone in the TimeZone.dat file.
Suggested timezones for [PST] (GMT-08:00):
1. America/Ensenada
2. America/Los_Angeles
3. America/Santa_Isabel
4. America/Tijuana
5. America/Vancouver
6. Canada/Pacific
7. Mexico/BajaNorte
8. Pacific/Pitcairn

-
-

-
Define the Time Zone Name: Type the number that corresponds to the required suggested time zone name, and press ENTER.
-
Skip this Time Zone: Type the last number, which defines this time zone as To Be Determined (TBD), and press ENTER.
You must define all time zones that are temporarily defined as TBD to complete this procedure.
-
-
Repeat the previous step until the following message appears:
Successfully wrote Mappings to <Directory>/<Filename>.
-
Record the filename that appears, which you must provide in the following step.
-
-
Run the following command to map the new time zone names to the currently defined time zone IDs:
em em_manage_tz -activate -mapping_file <Filename>
A confirmation message appears.
-
Type Y to confirm.
The following messages appears:
Time Zone Management has been activated. Publishing Change
Successfully updated TimeZone.json and TimeZone.dat files.
-
If you currently are logged in to Control-M Web, log out and then log in again.
Control-M now automatically adjusts for DST, and you can now add any managed time zone to a job definition, as described in Scheduling.
