Control-D Delivery Server Log Files

Control-D Delivery Server stores issued process messages issued by in log files for analysis and troubleshooting. The Log Editor enables you to define and configure, which process messages to collect and consists of the following options:

  • Settings: Determines which log messages appears.

  • Channels: Defines the file path name of the destination folder.

Configuring Control-D Delivery Server Log Files

This procedure enables you to configure the Delivery Server Log File settings and channels, which enables you to collect messages generated by Control-D Delivery Server.

Begin

  1. From the Root directory, navigate to the following location:

    Log >Delivery Server > DeliveryServer_CTD_Delivery > Log Editor

    The Log Editor window appears.

  2. From the Settings tab, select Delivery Server.

  3. Define the parameters, as described in Log Settings Parameters.

  4. From the Channels tab, in the Channel Types drop-down list, select one of the following channel types:

    • File
    • Other
    • SNMP

  5. Define the parameters, as described in Log Channels Parameters

  6. Click Apply and then click OK.

    Control-D Distribution Server logs are configured.

Configuring Control-D Delivery Distribution Server Log Files with Control-D Delivery Server Desktop

This procedure enables you to configure the Distribution Server Log File settings and channels, which enables you to collect messages generated by Control-D Delivery Server.

Begin

  1. From the Root directory, navigate to the following location:

    Log >Distribution Server > Distribution_CTD_Delivery > Log Editor

    The Log Editor window appears.

  2. From the Settings tab, select one of the following files:

    • Distribute

    • Repmgr

  3. Define the parameters, as described in Log Settings Parameters.

  4. From the Channels tab, in the Channel Types drop-down list, select one of the following channel types:

    • File
    • Other
    • SNMP

  5. Define the parameters, as described in Log Channels Parameters

  6. Click Apply and then click OK.

    Control-D Distribution Server logs are configured.

Adding Control-D Delivery Server Channels

This procedure enables you to add channels, which enables you to collect additional messages to generate in the Control-D Delivery Server.

Begin

  1. From the Root directory, navigate to the following locations:

    Log >Delivery Server > DeliveryServer_CTD_Delivery > Log Editor

    The Log Editor window appears.

  2. From the Channels tab, click New Item.

  3. The New Item window appears.

  4. Define the parameters, as described in Log Channels Parameters

  5. Click Apply and then click OK.

    The new Channel appears.

    Control-D Delivery Server logs are configured.

Log Settings Parameters

The following table describes the Log Settings Parameters.

Channels

(Optional) Defines active channel locations.

Screen Level

(Optional) Determines the security severity level of error messages, which provides informational hierarchy of each message.

Valid values:

  • System: Progress messages.

    Server is running on host bmc.com, port=1948

  • Error: Error massages that describe a problem that might occur when you use the Control-D/WebAccess Server Web Application and Control-D/WebAccess Server Desktop.

    Exception during receive

  • Warning: Warning message.

  • Info: System information.

  • Blank: Disables the logging process.

Default: Error

Screen Category

(Optional) Determines whether to monitor a log when the filename contains wildcards.

Default: *

Log Channels Parameters

The following table describes the Log Channel Parameters.

Delete After Days

(Optional) Determines the number of days to store log files before the file deletes.

Default: Blank

Delete After Size (Bytes)

(Optional) Determines the maximum log file size before the file deletes.

Valid values: 5−1440

Default: 15

Log Level

(Optional) Determines the security severity level of error messages that appears and enables you to determine informational hierarchy of each message.

Valid values:

  • System: Progress messages.

    Server is running on host bmc.com, port=1948

  • Error: Error massages that describe a problem that might occur when you use the Control-D/WebAccess Server Web Application and Control-D/WebAccess Server Desktop.

Path

Defines the log filename path.

Default: blank

Type

Determines the following file types:

Valid values:

  • Shared File Standard file type for file channels. You can automatically delete when the file reaches a maximum file size or maximum time.

  • Private File: Files used to log debugging purposes. You cannot automatically delete a Private File.

Default: Shared File

Category

(Optional) Enables you to use an * (asterisks) to monitor filenames.

Default: *

Host

Defines the SNMP hostname.

Default: blank

ID

Defines the SNMP Enterprise ID
