This procedure describes how to create a new Load-Index or modify an existing Load-Index.
To create or modify a Load-Index:
On the IOA Primary Option menu, select option W.
The Workload Management Entry Panel is displayed. For more information about this screen, see Workload Management Entry Panel.
Specify option ID, and press Enter.
The Load-Indexes Definition screen displays a list of defined Load-Indexes. For more information about this screen, see Load-Indexes Definition screen.
Perform one of the following actions:
For a new, undefined Load-Index, enter ADD <Load-Index name> in the command line.
To copy a defined Load-Index, enter I (Insert) in the OPT field next to the Load-Index.
To view and modify a defined Load-Index, enter S (Select) in the OPT field next to the Load-Index.
The Load-Index: <Load-Index name> screen is displayed.
Enter or modify Load-Index settings — including name, description, type (Utilization, 4HRA, External, or MainView Alarm), and various threshold and scope settings.
Press PF3 to exit the definition screen and then the list screen, and save your changes. Note that changes are not saved until you exit these screens. Choose between the following options:
Save locally (Option 2) — Load-Indexes are saved, but are operative according to the new definitions only after Load-Indexes are applied (using the APPLY command or Exit Option 3) or after Control-M monitor is recycled.
Save and apply to the active environment (Option 3) — Load-Indexes are operative immediately, as defined.
To exit without saving your changes, choose Option 1.
Note: For a Load-Index to have an effect on the load of jobs on an LPAR, you must associate the Load-Index with a Workload Policy, through the Rule parameters of a Workload Policy.
