To enhance the coverage of data sets by the Multisystem Upgrade process, you can implement system symbols within a subset of IOA environment data sets.

Note: Implementing system symbols has the following effects on the Multisystem Upgrade process:
If you choose to upgrade the master IOA environment (Step 3) using an Upgrade in Place process, all components in the master environment (including address spaces, monitors, and IOA online users) must be down when you perform Steps 2.3 to 2.12 of the Upgrade in Place process.
Additional limitations restrict the differences that are allowed to exist between the IOA environments in the Multisystem Upgrade process.
