Step 8 – FDR support adaptations (optional)

Control‑D can archive and restore reports to tapes or cartridges. The function itself is performed by an archiving product (Control‑D prepares the parameters). If the archiving product is FDR (Version 5.0 and later are supported), JCL tailoring of the supplied FDR samples is required before Control‑D can archive and restore.

There are two ways to archive reports with Control‑D:

The BKPUTIL Control‑D installation parameter specifies which method is to be used by the site (cataloged or not cataloged). Depending on which method was chosen, adapt the appropriate sample members.

If the BKPUTIL installation parameter is set to FDRNOCAT, only Step 8.1 – Uncataloged backup step and Step 8.2 – Uncataloged restore step are displayed. If the BKPUTIL installation parameter is set to FDRCAT, only Step 8.3 – Cataloged backup step and Step 8.4 – Cataloged restore step are displayed.
