Step 7.4 – Allocate and/or format communication files (for non-Sysplex environments)

Select this step to allocate and format communication files in a non-Sysplex environment where the MVS System Logger will not be used. For more information, see CMEM considerations.

The FORMSUB2 job allocates and formats a file that enables the Control‑M Event Manager or Control‑O monitors to communicate with the Control‑M monitor.

Note: If you already performed this job for Control-M, do not perform it again for Control-O.

All actions specified below should be repeated for each computer in the computer list.

The disk on which such a file is to be allocated must have the following characteristics:

For each computer whose SYSID was specified in IOACPRM, take the following steps:

  1. Change the SMFID parameter to match the related entry.
  2. Change the VOL and UNIT parameters to define a disk suitable for the specified SMFID.
  3. Submit the job.

    Note: The job must run in the computer whose file is being formatted during this run.

  4. Check for successful completion. All job steps must end with a condition code of 0.

    Note: All communication files should be reformatted whenever a new computer is added to the computer list.

    Verify that the CMEM, Control‑O, and the Control‑M monitors are down when formatting the subsystem communication file.
