Protecting access to PDF reports

You can choose to password-protect PDF reports distributed through Control-D/Delivery Server or Control-D/WebAccess, preventing unauthorized access to the data in your reports. You can apply passwords for access to whole PDF reports or for access to specific sections within reports (based on report indexes that you specify).

Enabling password protection of PDF reports involves decollating your report with the appropriate settings, followed by defining the password in the Permanent User File.

To enable password protection

  1. Through the Report Decollating Mission Definition screen (option R in the IOA Primary Option menu), use the SET decollating parameter to set the $PDFPASS system variable to a value of Y.

For more information, see SET: Decollating Parameter System Variables in the Control-D and Control-V User Guide.

  2. Decollate the report.
  3. To define the password for opening PDF reports, use the CTVUPINV utility to run a job with following parameters:

For more information and a sample CTVUPINV job, see CTVUPINV Parameters and Examples for CTVUPINV in the INCONTROL for z/OS Utilities Guide.

After completing these tasks, users attempting to open a PDF report will be prompted for the password.
