Step 7.2 – Sysout access considerations

Under JES3, three types of output classes are available:

The characteristics of each class are defined in JES3 INISHDECK. They have no connection with, and no relation to, the expression HOLD=YES|NO in the JCL.

When instructed to read a sysout, Control‑M/Analyzer can read only held output classes. In addition, the expression FREE=CLOSE must be specified in the DD statement that created the output. For details, see the description of the ON CLASS and ON SYSOUT parameters in the Control‑M/Analyzer User Guide. Consider the following for the different held class combinations:
