Recommended method

Run the normal Control‑D procedure.

Control‑D cannot read sysouts that are defined with the expression HOLD=TSO. It can read sysouts that are defined with the expression HOLD=EXTWTR or are non‑held.

The disadvantage of this method is that neither the TSO OUTPUT command nor option 3.8 under ISPF enables viewing sysouts that are defined to JES3 with the expression HOLD=EXTWTR. Therefore, this method can only be used by users of products that can read the output from spool using a different technique than TSO OUTPUT or ISPF 3.8.

Use the following sample JES3 sysout definition in the JES3 initialization deck (INISHDECK):

SYSOUT,CLASS=h,TYPE=(PRINT...),HOLD=EXTWTR
