Step 7.4 – Decollation considerations

Under JES3, output classes are divided into the following types:

The characteristics of the class are defined in the JES3 INISHDECK, and have no connection with, or no relation to, the HOLD=YES or HOLD=NO expression in the JCL.

Control‑D can read outputs from all these types of output classes. Consider the following alternatives:

In general, BMC recommends that decollation of held outputs under JES3 be avoided, unless there is no alternative.

The two methods of running the Control‑D monitor under JES3 are described below.
