Deferred printing by indexes

Like regular report printing, printing report sections by index (printing the report sections that correspond to index values) can either be performed immediately (using the Immediate Printing option) or later by a print mission (using the Deferred Printing option).

The deferred printing by index feature allows different sections of a report to be distributed to different destinations. This is accomplished by using the CTVUPINV utility to define the appropriate index values. These index values settings are saved in the Permanent User file. For more information about the CTVUPINV utility, see the INCONTROL for z/OS Utilities Guide.

The deferred printing process consists of the following procedures:

Use the CTVUPINV utility to define the appropriate index values and save the settings in the Permanent User file.

Order the deferred printing by doing one of the follow:

The deferred printing applies to both active and migrated indexes. For more information about these deferred printing methods, see the Control-D and Control-V User Guide.

To use deferred printing by index to e-mail, follow the instructions from topic Printing to e-mail, but use the following BANNER members: $MINDSTA, $MINDSTT, and $MIMDEND instead of $MREPSTA, $MREPSTT, and $MREPEND.
