Capturing first failure data using In-Memory Buffer Trace

For Control‑M the IOA Internal Tracing facility supports an additional option for tracing into memory buffers. Tracing into memory buffers makes the most relevant data available the moment a problem first arises. The trace data is written into a buffer that wraps around to the beginning when the end of the buffer is reached. The content of the buffer is available in dumps or by manually flushing it to an output file when required. For more information on the Internal Tracing facility, see Chapter 2, "IOA Administration."

The Control‑M RELOAD and FLUSH modify commands for the In-Memory Buffer Trace feature are available to the Control-M Monitor and Application Server.

Use the following command to refresh the trace facility parameters from the DATRCIN and DATRCBF files:

F <monitor>,TRACE=RELOAD

Use the following command to write the contents of a memory buffer to the DD statement DATRACE file:

F <monitor>,TRACE=FLUSH,BUFID=ALL

Use the FLUSH command whenever the operator determines irregular behavior of the product.
