Determining the Control-M Trace Level Intensity Preference

The user has the option to choose the intensity level of the traces produced by the Control-M Trace Facility. For the Control-M monitor and Newday process the intensity level is determined by choosing one of the following members located in the CTM PARM library:

• CTMTRCML contains the Low trace intensity levels with an allocated buffer size of 300,000 lines
• CTMTRCMM contains the Medium trace intensity levels with an allocated buffer size of 900,000 lines
• CTMTRCMH contains the High trace intensity levels with an allocated buffer size of 1,500,000 lines

Each of the members listed above contain the same trace level. They differ only in the size of the buffer allocated.

For the Control-M Application Server the intensity level is determined by choosing one of the following members located in the CTM PARM library:

• CTMTRCAL contains the Low trace intensity levels
• CTMTRCAM contains the Medium trace intensity levels
• CTMTRCAH contains the High trace intensity levels

Control‑M uses the MTRC parameter in the Control‑M monitor, Newday process and Application Server JCL procedures to determine which trace intensity level member to use. The user can specify the trace intensity level by setting the MTRC parameter to one of the following values:

• L - Low trace intensity level
• M - Medium trace intensity level (Default)
• H - High trace intensity level
