Enlarging Control-M/IOA File Blocksize

Most Control‑M/IOA files are created with a predefined blocksize that cannot be changed. For example, the blocksize of the IOA Conditions file (CND), the Control‑M Resources file (RES) and the IOA Manual Conditions file (NRS) are set to 32760.

Control‑M/IOA LOAD libraries are supplied with a blocksize of 6144. Control‑M/IOA source-like libraries are supplied with a blocksize of 3120. These libraries can be reblocked to suit the standards employed at your site. Larger blocksizes reduce I/O, CPU time and elapsed time. However, this does not have a significant impact on the major components of Control‑M.

To increase performance when accessing the IOA LOG file, specify a relatively large block size for the file. For more information, see the INCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Installing, "Installation steps" > "Specify target configuration parameters" > "IOA log file space calculation."
