Calculating the size of the required navigation control structure to the variables.

One of the attributes defined for an IOA Variable database is the NUMBER OF ROWS. The NUMBER OF ROWS is set using the =IV screen, when you add or update a new Variable IOA Database. The NUMBER OF ROWS specified for the IOA Variable Database is the primary input required to calculate the size, in ECSA, of a navigation control structure. The NUMBER OF ROWS attribute enables you to

• set a limit on the amount of rows that can be added to a database, and indicate an AutoEdit error if that limit is exceeded
• determine the ECSA space required to allocate a control structure, which helps to easily navigate the databases
