The SNMP Destination Table

After completing installation, but before sending SNMP traps (messages), you must specify several parameters in the SNMP section of the IOAPARM member in the IOA PARM library. For more information, see Message Destination Parameters in IOAPARM.

In addition, you must define the appropriate parameters in the SNMPDEST member. The IOA IOAENV library contains a sample SNMPDEST member, with an example of how to define the SNMPDEST parameters. Copy the SNMPDEST member to the IOA PARM library and define the parameters appropriately.

SNMP destinations consist of host names, IP addresses, nicknames, group names, and port numbers to where an INCONTROL product can send SNMP traps (messages).

The SNMPDEST parameters are described in the table.

Table 52 SNMPDEST Parameters

For IPv4 addresses, use the standard dotted decimal notation. Do not use IPv4-mapped IPv6 addresses.

For IPv6 addresses: use the standard notation (39 characters) or the abbreviated form (for example, ::1). See message ECAP9UE for more details.

NICK

nickname of an SNMP destination (1 through 8 characters)

GROUP

group name of a number of SNMP destinations (1 through 8 characters)

PORT

SNMP port number (1 through 65535). If not specified, SNMP port number defaults to 162.
