Creating a Control-M for Java connection profile

This procedure describes how to create a Control-M for Java connection profile in the Control-M Configuration Manager, which enables you to define a Java job in Control-M Workload Automation.

To create a Control-M for Java connection profile:

1. From Control-M Configuration Manager, select Control-M for Java on the host that you want to manage, right-click and select Java Connection Profile Management.

   The Control-M for Java Connection Profile Management dialog box appears.

2. Click .

   The Step 1: Select the Connection Profile Invocation Target dialog box appears.

3. In the Connection Profile Name field, type the name of the connection profile that you want to add.

   NOTE: The connection profile name must begin with a letter and without any blanks or special characters.

4. In the Invocation target section, click on one of the following targets:
   • EJB: Defines a J2EE Client Runtime Environment for a specific application server. One or more EJBs can be managed by this connection profile.
   • Local Java Class: Defines a Java Runtime Environment and the Classes to Invoke table, where the local Java classes for this connection profile can be defined.
5. (EJB only) From the drop-down list select an application server to connect.

   NOTE: If you are unsure which server to select, choose Other J2EE.

6. Click Next.

   The Step2 Define Runtime Environment dialog box appears.

7. Type the JRE Home Path or click Browse.

   NOTE: Certain application servers (for example, IBM Websphere) require the use of its own JRE to function correctly. Specify the JRE path that is located in the application servers installation instead of the standard Sun or machine pre-installed JRE.

8. (Local Java Class only) In the Advanced Configuration field, select one of the options in Advanced Configuration parameters
9. Click Next.

   If you select, EJB, The Step 3 Define parameters needed to connect to the selected application server dialog box appears. If you select Local Java Class, Step 3 Define Classes to Invoke dialog box appears.

10. Do one of the following:
    • If you select EJB, do the following:
      1. For each field, type the required value, as described in Application Server parameters.
      2. Click Next.

         The Step 4 Define EJBs dialog box appears dialog box appears.

      3. In the .jar or ear files containing the EJB's field, click and then from the drop-down list select either Add EJB 2.x or Add EJB3.x.
      4. (Optional) In the EJBs to invoke field, you can add, edit or delete EJBs manually. For more information, see: EJBs to invoke management.
      5. Click Next.
    • If you select Local Java Class, do one or more of the following:
      • To add a class to invoke click .
      • To edit a class to invoke, click .
      • To delete a class to invoke, click .

    NOTE: You can move a .jar or .ear file by highlighting the file and clicking on the arrows.

11. Click Next.
12. Review the connection profile details, and click Test.

    If the test completed successfully, the connection profile is validated and you can now define a Java job, as described in Defining a Control-M for WJM job. If the test failed, review the error message and test it again.

    NOTE: If the connection profile type is TIBCO do not run the test due to the limitation of the TIBCO browse API functionality.

13. Click Finish.

    The connection profile is added to the Control-M for Java Connection Profile Management dialog box.
