Validating and correcting the Control-M/EM old version

This procedure describes how to validate the old Control-M/EM data to ensure that it will function correctly in the destination environment.

NOTE: You do not need to shut Control-M/EM down when you validate the old version data.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have the Control-M/EM database owner user name and password.

To validate and correct the Control-M/EM old version:

  1. Run one of the following upgrade commands:

    The Upgrade (Export) menu appears.

    S_Upgrade_EM_Upgrade_Menu

  2. To validate the source data, enter 1.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions until the validation is complete.

During the process, you are prompted for your Control-M/EM database credentials (user and password).

A Readiness report named ValidityReport.out is generated in the same directory.

  4. To view the Readiness Report on-screen, enter 2.
  5. Analyze the results and correct all errors manually.

Data that generated informational messages and warning messages are automatically adjusted when imported to the new 9.0.00 version. For more information on the Readiness report, see Readiness report messages.

  6. Repeat the data validity check in steps 2 - 5, until no error messages are generated and the message Your data is ready for upgrade appears.

You are now ready to export the data, as described in Exporting the Control-M/EM old data.
