A service rule is a service definition that enables you to manually or automatically generate services based on filtering and grouping criteria, rather than creating many individual services.
There are two types of service rules:
For example, you can define an active rule that creates a service for all jobs that belong to APP_Sales and GRP_Eur. Every time a new job enters Active Jobs and matches the rule, a new service instance automatically appears in Control-M Self Service. This relieves you from creating a new service definition every time new application or groups that match the rule appear in Active Jobs, such as APP_Sales1, APP_Sales2, or GRP_Eur_North, GRP_Eur_South.
