New Day Procedure

The New Day procedure is the primary mechanism used to issue (activate) new missions for the Control-D monitor. The New Day procedure is activated to determine which missions may potentially be activated on a specific date. A mission is not necessarily executed by the monitor. For example, a mission is not executed if it has prerequisite conditions that have not been satisfied.

The New Day procedure places the potential missions in the Active Missions file. The monitor reads the new missions from the Active Missions file and merges their data with the rest of the workload information under its supervision. The monitor executes the mission while taking into account the entire report distribution environment.

The New Day procedure is usually activated automatically by the monitor at a predefined time each day. The New Day procedure can also be activated manually by a job, TSO CLIST, ROSCOE RPF, or through the Online facility.
