Example

Assume two files exist:

• a summary report file contains three records per customer listing subtotals for local, long distance, and international calls
• a detail file lists all phone calls for each customer

First, the records in the detail file are sub-totaled by customer. Then, these subtotals are compared to the subtotals for each customer in the summary report file.

Note: The MERGEX and SUMX functions cannot be invoked if the SETKEY function was specified in the Preparation stage.
