Step 2.2 – Specify message editing parameters

Table 107 Message editing parameters

Parameter

Description

DYNWTO

Whether to modify MOUNT and/or KEEP messages.

  • Mandatory

Valid values are:

  • M – Change only MOUNT messages. Default.
  • K – Change only KEEP messages.
  • Y – Change both KEEP and MOUNT messages.
  • N – Change no messages.

Note: If the DYNWTO parameter is used to indicate that mount and/or keep messages should not be modified, the unmodified messages cannot be used to trigger IOA functions, such as DO FORCEJOB or DO SHOUT, that are specified in a Control‑M/Tape rule.

The following messages are modified according to the CNGMSGID and MSGFMT parameters, according to the value specified in the DYNWTO parameter:

IAT5210, IEC501E, IAT5410, IEC502E, IEC101A, IEF233A, IEC111E, IEF233D, IEC501A, IEF234E

The CNGMSGID parameter is described in this table, and the MSGFMT parameter is described in .Step 2.3 – Specify MOUNT and KEEP message format.

If M or Y is specified for the DYNWTO parameter, the keywords PRIVAT and SCRTCH are replaced by the pool name in MOUNT messages for Scratch tapes from Scratch pools.

WARNING: Other products at your site may depend on the format of these messages. Use caution when altering messages.

CNGMSGID

Whether to change message IDs for KEEP and/or MOUNT messages.

Valid values are:

  • M – Change only MOUNT message IDs. Default.
  • K – Change only KEEP message IDs.
  • Y – Change both KEEP and MOUNT message IDs.
  • N – Do not change any message IDs.
  • P – Change only MOUNT messages for SCRATCH POOL requests.

For a list of messages that can be modified by specification of this parameter, see the "DYNWTO" parameter.

New message IDs are assigned as follows:

  • CTT100A – Assigned to regular MOUNT messages.
  • CTT101A – Assigned to MOUNT messages for SCRATCH tapes from Scratch pools.
  • CTT102A – Assigned to KEEP messages.
  • CTT103A – Assigned to regular JES3 MOUNT messages.
  • CTT104A – Assigned to MOUNT messages for JES3 SCRATCH tapes from Scratch pools.
  • CTT105A – Assigned to JES3 KEEP messages.

Note: The CNGMSGID parameter only affects those messages that are also indicated as modifiable by the DYNWTO parameter.
