Step 6.2 – Allocate and format CTO Statistics files

The DEFSTATO job defines the Control‑O Message Statistics file. This job can be used to format an existing Statistics file or to allocate and format a new Statistics file.

Note: If the STATO parameter is set to N, skip this step.

If parameters are passed to this job, it attempts to allocate a new file (DISP=NEW). When no parameters are passed to this job, it attempts to use an existing file (DISP=OLD).

When the STATO parameter is set to Y (default), Control-O accumulates message statistics. Control-O uses a separate statistics file for each computer on which it runs.

For each computer where Control‑O executes, modify the parameters shown in the following table.

Note: When specifying values for parameters or subparameters that include both unit and volser fields, you must either define both the Unit and Volser fields, or leave both of them blank. Do not enter a value for only one of them.

Table 101 Control‑O Statistic file parameters

Parameter

Description

SMFID

SMF ID of the computer where the job is being run.

UNIT

Unit where the Statistics file will be allocated.

VOL

Volume where the Statistics file will be allocated.

Note: The VOL parameter must specify a non‑SMS managed volume. In an SMS environment, use the SMS ACS member to specify the unit and volume for the Global library.

Submit the job and verify that all steps complete with a condition code of 0.

You must repeat this step on every computer where Control‑O executes.
