Your BMC distributor provides your site with one or more printouts containing password data for Control‑M/Restart. The product ordered is licensed to run on one or more computers for a specific period of time.

Note: If BMC supplied you with a site licence, copy the printout to the PASCTR member.

The PASCTR member in the IOA.PARM library must be updated with the password data from the printouts provided by the distributor. The data contained in this member is used by the IOA password mechanism to verify that Control‑M/Restart is authorized to run on the specific CPU ID and model. The password members contain the following parameters:

• PROD=CONTROl-M/RESTART / yymmdd

  The PROD parameter line contains the name Control‑M/RESTART and the expiration date of the password in yymmdd format.

• START=yymmdd
  • The START parameter line contains the start date of Control‑M/Restart in yymmdd format.
  • Only one START parameter can be specified in a password member.
• CPUID=iiii mmmm
  • In the CPUID parameters line, iiiiii is the CPU ID, and mmmm is the model, on which Control‑M/Restart can run.
  • There must be a separate CPUID parameter for each CPU authorized to run Control‑M/Restart.

  The CPU IDs and models present at the site can be obtained by specifying the D M=CPU MVS command on each mainframe CPU where Control‑M/Restart is to run. As a result of this command, the CPU ID and model (such as 9021 or 9221) is displayed. In the following example, the CPU ID is 0D0620, and the CPU model number is 9221:

• PASS=pppppppp pppppppp pppppppp
  • In the PASS parameter line, pppppppp pppppppp pppppppp is the password provided by the BMC representative.
  • Only one PASS line can be present in a password member
• TYPE=LICENCE
  • The TYPE parameter line contains the type of licence given. Valid values are:
    • LICENCE – For permanent licences.
    • TRIAL – For customers who want to evaluate products for a limited period of time.
    • EMERGENCY – For a short-term password, until a permanent password is provided.
  • Only one TYPE line can be present in a password member.

The following example illustrates a completed Control‑M/Restart password member:

Note: This site has a permanent licence for Control‑M/Restart starting April 18, 2007 and ending April 17, 2008. The authorized CPU IDs are 231234 (model 9021) and 140564 (model 9121).

The following additional considerations may apply when you edit the Control‑M/Restart password member:

• The lines in the password member can be in any order.
• Comment lines (those with an asterisk in position 1 of the line) are ignored.
• There can be any number of blanks (or no blanks) between parameters on each line. For example, the PROD line can be written as: PROD=CONTROL‑M/RESTART / yymmdd
• The following principles apply to multiprocessor models:
  • A particular model is considered a multiprocessor if it has two or more processors. Each processor has a different CPU ID, for example, 001234 and 101234.
  • Only the last four digits of the CPU ID are checked. For example, CPU IDs 001234, 101234 and nn1234 are all considered to be equivalent to "CPUID=001234."
  • The CPU ID must be six digits. The model (such as 9021 or 9121) must be four digits. For a 7-digit CPU ID, ignore the leftmost digit and handle the remaining six digits as discussed above.

  Note: If new INCONTROL products are added, or a CPU is added, replaced or removed, your BMC representative will tell you how to modify the appropriate password members.
