Step 22.2 – Define KOA logical "Terminals" in VTAM

KOA runs as a VTAM application that simulates a terminal. KOA terminals, which are actually VTAM applications, are defined in VTAM in the same way as other logical units in the SNA network. A pool of KOA terminals must be defined for each computer in which KOA scripts can run.

The number of KOA logical terminals defined in VTAM should be greater than the maximum number of KOA scripts that can run in parallel. For example, if 19 KOA scripts are to be run in parallel, you must define at least 20 KOA logical terminals.

MAJOR NODES member in the VTAM definition library, which is usually called SYS1.VTAMLST. In the MAJOR NODES member, there is a separate library definition for each computer.

Within the terminal pool, each terminal name must consist of a prefix comprised of 1 through 4 characters, followed by a 4‑digit index.
