Report distribution process in Control-D for z/OS

Report distribution is performed by Immediate or Deferred print when a report destination is specified as 'CTDS extdest,' where extdest is predefined or a user-defined External Destination name. The report destination can be defined in a decollation mission, in the Recipient Tree, or in the Permanent User File. For further details about how to specify report destinations, see the Control-D and Control-V User Guide.

The Print mission or the Immediate Print module builds three files for every report to be distributed and sends these files to the Session Manager running on the Distribution Server. These files have the following extensions:

Extension

Description

.rep

report content

.cfg

report and destination attributes

.pag

report indexes and page information

File transfer is performed through TCP/IP; therefore, the corresponding address space must have an OMVS segment defined in RACF (or in the appropriate definitions in ACF2 or TSS).
