Control-M and SMF Processing

Since the Control-M monitor is a long-running job, it may take a long time from when the monitor is stopped until it actually ends, depending on how the customer has set the DDCONS parameter in the SMFPRMxx system PARMLIB member.

When DDCONS is set to YES, long-running jobs may take a long time to end because of the building of SMF type 30 records. If such delays can or do adversely affect the production system, the user should consider setting DDCONS to NO. This setting will bypass the consolidation function for type 30 records, thereby reducing the processing time required to build the records, and thus also the time required to complete the job. For more information, see the IBM manual MVS Initialization and Tuning Reference.
