Once a day, at a time set by the INCONTROL administrator, the Control‑M monitor begins New Day processing by going into a suspended state and issuing the following messages (the first is a highlighted, unrollable message):
CTM113I Control‑M MONITOR monitor NEW DAY PROCESSING STARTED |
CTML00I Control‑M MONITOR monitor PROCESSING SUSPENDED |
CTML07W Control‑M MONITOR monitor WAITING FOR NEWDAY PROCEDURE |
Shortly after that last message is issued, started task CTMTDAY (the New Day procedure) is automatically activated.
If CTMTDAY finishes executing without any problems, the following messages are issued, and the suspended Control‑M monitor resumes normal processing:
CTML01I Control‑M MONITOR monitor PROCESSING RESUMED |
CTML02I Control‑M MONITOR monitor NEW DAY PROCESSING COMPLETE |
CTML05W NEW DAY PROCESSING ERROR DETECTED
CTML06W REPLY "R" FOR RESUME OR "E" FOR END
The operator should try to correct the problem and rerun the CTMTDAY procedure as described below. Once the CTMTDAY procedure runs successfully, the operator should reply R to message CTML06W, which enables the
Control-M monitor to resume normal processing. Terminating execution of the Control-M monitor (option E) should only be requested if the problem cannot be corrected.
Procedure CTMTDAY can be rerun—while the Control-M monitor is suspended for Newday processing—in one of the modes described in the following table.
Table 104 CTMTDAY modes with Control-M monitor suspended
Command |
Description |
---|---|
S CTMTDAY |
AJF formatting and job ordering are performed as in normal Newday processing. The formatting step includes deletion of the current Control-M working day conditions from the IOA Conditions file. |
S CTMTDAY, NEWDAY=ORDERONLY[,date] |
Performs job ordering only and not AJF formatting. If date is not specified, the current ODATE is used. Otherwise, date determines the ODATE. |
S CTMTDAY,NEWDAY= |
Performs AJF formatting only (equivalent to the COMPRESS command of utility CTMCAJF). Does not delete conditions for the current working day. |
If the CTMTDAY problem is related to a Table problem, setting parameter CNTERCRD to Y in member CTMPARM can avoid such CTMTDAY failures. If this parameter is set to Y, the ordering process bypasses scheduling errors within a job, and skips to the next job. If the error is in a SMART Table Entity or in a job belonging to a SMART Table, processing skips the entire table and continues with the next job or table. If the CNTERCRD parameter is set to N, it may be necessary to rerun the job ordering process of the CTMTDAY procedure, as follows:
S CTMTDAY,NEWDAY=ORDERONLY
CTM426W CTMTDAY "DAILY" DID NOT RUN FOR nnnnnn DAYS
CTM43CI CONTENTS OF DATE Control RECORD:
CTM437I date-1 date-2 date-3 date-4 date-5 date-6 date-7
CTM439W REPLY 'C' TO CONTINUE, 'U' TO UPDATE DATEREC TO
CURRENT DAY EXECUTION, OR 'E' TO END
Respond using one of the following options:
If the Control‑M monitor has been down for more than 28 days, the previous working date (the current working date minus 1) must be manually specified as date values 1 through 6.
