The NICK statement serves as a synonym for a host name or IP address. It is provided for ease of use. If used, it must have a HOST parameter and optionally, a PORT parameter appended to it. The NICK parameter is treated as if it is specified in uppercase.

The GROUP statement enables the user to send multiple SNMP traps (messages) to many users simultaneously. It is strictly provided for ease of use. If used, it must have any number of HOST and NICK parameters and optionally, PORT parameters appended to it. The GROUP parameter is treated as if it is specified in uppercase.
The following search order is used to determine the SNMP destination:
If the target is specified as a standard dotted-decimal notation, it is treated as an IP address and the SNMP trap (message) is sent to it.
The GROUP definitions are searched.
If not found, the NICK definitions are searched.
If not found, an attempt is made to treat the target as an immediate host name and the SNMP trap (message) is sent to it.
