Step 4.2 - Perform Fallback

You can use the Fallback option to revert to the pre-upgrade level of the cloned system, provided that Compatibility mode has not been changed.

This step checks that all libraries are available, and prompts you to free any libraries that are not available. Datasets are then restored from the backup package defined in the job parameter BKPKGDSN.

Since the ICE (LOAD, INSTALL, and INSTWORK) libraries must also be restored, you MUST exit ICE and the INSTALL library after submitting this job. Afterwards, wait for the job to complete, and only then re-enter ICE.

  1. Select Minor step 2, Perform Fallback.

    The IOAFJFBK job opens in edit mode.

  2. Verify that general parameter BKPKGDSN is set to the relevant backup dataset to be used for the Restore action.

    By default, the latest original backup dataset name is indicated in the Fallback job. If you want to restore your environment to a different original Date, you can change the name of the backup dataset.

  3. Remove the asterisk at the beginning of the following line:

//*     SET BKPKGDSN=xxxxx

  1. Submit the job.
  2. Exit ICE.
  3. After the job has completed, re-enter ICE.
