Kernel version |
Due to SAP changes in the RFC libraries, a minimum kernel for your SAP system is required, which is detailed in SAP note 792850 and 903329. Failure to do so, prevents Control-M for SAP from working and the following connection error is displayed: You are not authorized to logon to the target system (error code 1) Connect to SAP gateway failed partner not reached (host <...>, service 33<nn>) SAP recommends that you always have the most updated version of Kernel installed. |
XBP interface |
It is recommended that your SAP system includes at least the XBP 2.0 interface. Some of the features are available without XBP 2.0, if you use Control-M Function Modules. The XBP 3.0 interface is required for application log features. For more information, see Differences between XBP BAPIs and Control-M Function Modules. According to SAP documentation, the XBP 2.0 interface is included in the following SAP Basis Support Packages:

Data archiving |
If you are use XBP 1.0 on SAP 4.6C and plan to implement Control-M support for Data Archiving, you must apply SAP Note 458670 to your SAP system. Follow the instructions provided in the SAP note. When using XBP 2.0 or XBP 3.0, this note is not necessary. |

If you plan to use the Control-M for SAP Interrupt functionality, for BW 3.0 and 3.5, SAP Note 786748 must be installed manually. Open ports |
The gateway port in the SAP host should always be open. If you are using a firewall, ensure that this port is open. The port is usually 33<SYSNR>, where SYSNR represents the System number of the computer on which the SAP Gateway Server is running. Port 3335 is used when the System number is 35. If you are using Log in Groups, ensure that the Message Server port you are using is open. |
You can use a transport user role, BMCCTRLM_CM_USER, which includes all the authorizations (with the exception of S_RS_PC), needed to work with Control-M for SAP. Use this role in your Control-M user. For more information on how to install the Transport, see Transport sub-folder contents.
You might need to add additional authorizations, as described in SAP authorizations. The authorization checks if the job is completed in SAP using the Owner of the job step. However, if you do not set an Owner for the job step, the Owner is set in the connection profile and must have the required authorizations.
The User Type, as defined in the SAP User maintenance transaction (SU01), can be either System or Dialog. Different User Types might cause errors in connection
