Installing the Control-M/EM Migration Export Pack

This procedure describes how to install the Control-M/EM Migration Export Pack on UNIX and Windows on the old environment. This is used to export Control-M/EM data to a file in the old environment, and then import it into the new environment.

NOTE: The Control-M Migration pack is automatically installed on the Control-M/EM 8.0.00 environment and is maintained and updated with Control-M/EM fix packs. If a Control-M/EM fix pack is applied after performing the following steps, then these steps must be repeated.

Before you begin

Ensure that you have successfully installed the following:

• Control-M/EM 8.0.00, as described in Control-M Installation.
• Latest fix pack for Control-M/EM as described in the Customer Support site http://www.bmc.com/support.

To install the Control-M/EM Migration Export Pack:

1. Copy one of the following from the root folder of the new Control-M/EM 8.0.00 installation to a temporary folder in the old version environment of Control-M/EM:
   • UNIX: <em_home>/Upgrade/Export/install_upgrade
   • Windows: <em_home>\Upgrade\Export\install_upgrade.exe
2. To run the file, do one of the following:
   • UNIX: From the temporary folder, run the install_upgrade file.
   • Windows: Perform the following steps:
     1. From the temporary folder, right-click the install_upgrade.exe file and select Run as administrator.
     2. In the Upgrade Export Tool dialog box, click Install.
     3. After the message "Upgrade Export installation is started" is displayed, click Install once again.

   The migration files are extracted to <em_home>\Upgrade_Export (for Windows) or <em_home>/Upgrade_Export (for UNIX).

   Validate the data, as described in Validating and correcting the Control-M/EM old version.
