Shared Variables

Variables enable the automatic assignment of dynamic environmental values to the execution parameters of the Job. Before the Job is submitted, its variables are resolved by Control-M Server. The resolved values can then be passed as parameters of the Job submission command, and are used for the current execution of the Job. The contents of the original Job processing definition remain unchanged.

The Shared Variables tool enables you to view the following variables, which are added to your Job definition either when defining a variable assignment or when setting a variable in an On Do action:

• Global: Enables you to access the variables by its name which can be used by any Job that belongs to the same Control-M/Server.

  Any Job can alter the value of the Global variable as the value can change. If multiple Jobs modify the value, the last successful job run determines the value and the value might not be correct.

• Named Pool: Defines variables in a pool. The variable is referenced by the pool name - %%\\<named_pool>\<variable_name>.

  The scope of the Named Pool is limited to Jobs inside the same SMART Folder.

You can filter the variable by selecting the Variable type and/or Control-M Server fields. If you do not see the variable click Refresh.

NOTE: To view the variables you must have ordered a Job that contains these variables.
