Control-M Mobile

Control-M enables you to view jobs, monitor the processing of jobs, and control the job flow in your active environmentClosed The workflows of jobs and SMART folders that are scheduled to execute on the current Control-M day.. In addition you can manage, monitor, and view the status of services. A service is a select group of jobs in a workflow based on filtering criteria. You can view the progress of the jobs in a service, such as how many jobs are awaiting execution, or when they are expected to finish executing.

Logging in to Control-M Mobile

This procedure describes how to log in to Control-M Mobile via http or https on Android and iOS. You can also log in via IdP if it is configured, as described in Configuring Authentication with an IdP.

Begin

  1. Open the Control-M app.

  2. In the Control-M/EM Web Server URL field, type one of the following:

    • Secure Mode: https://<hostname>:8443/ControlM

      To use this option, Control-M/EM server requires a certificate that has been singed by a Certificate Authority.

    • Non-secure Mode: http://<hostname>:18080/ControlMMobile

    BMC recommends using secure mode for production environments.

  3. Tap Connect.

  4. Enter your username and password and tap Login.

Generating Diagnostic Data

This procedure describe how to generate diagnostic data for Customer Support, such as usage measurement reports, product logs, and configuration. This enables you to identify and troubleshoot problems or areas of inefficiency in the Control-M production environment and communicate that information to BMC Customer Support.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap About.

  3. Toggle on Record Logs.

  4. Tap , and then tap Services.

  5. Reproduce the problem that you are experiencing.

  6. Toggle off Record Logs.

  7. Save or share the logs and send to BMC Customer Support.

  8. Send the log file to BMC Customer Support.

Running a Service

This procedure describes how to run a service, which enables you to run all the jobs within the service.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap .

  3. From the drop-down list, select the service that you want to run and then tap Select.

  4. (Optional) For each parameter, type in or select a value.

  5. Tap Run.

  6. To run another service, tap Run Another Service.

Searching for a Job

This procedure describes how to search for jobs. If you have a viewpoint that contains the job that you want to search

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Job Search.

  2. In the Search bar, type the job name, filename, or Run ID.

    The search results appear. You can use partial search strings.

Holding a Job

This procedure describes how to hold a job, which prevents the job from executing, or pauses the execution of a job that has already started.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to hold.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap the job that you want to hold.

  5. Tap .

  6. Tap Hold.

    The job is on hold and you can now update the job.

Releasing a Job

This procedure describes how to release a job from a Hold state, which enables the job to continue executing according to it's defined attributes.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to release.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap the job that you want to release.

  5. Tap .

  6. Tap Release.

    The job is released and can now continue executing.

Rerunning a Job

This procedure describes how to execute a job again.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to rerun.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap the job that you want to rerun.

  5. Tap .

  6. Tap Rerun.

    You can only rerun a job after it has finished executing.

Confirming a Job

This procedure describes how to confirm a job that is waiting for user confirmation to enable the job to continue executing. This is relevant only for jobs that are defined to request user confirmation.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to confirm.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap the job that you want to confirm.

  5. Tap .

  6. Tap Confirm.

    The job is confirmed and continues to execute.

Setting a Job to OK

This procedure describes how to set a job to end OK by overriding any defined scheduling criteria or other job prerequisites.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to set to OK.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap the job that you want to set to OK.

  5. Tap .

  6. Tap Set to OK.

    The job ends OK.

Killing a Job

This procedure describes how to kill a job, which cancels a job from executing in the middle of its execution.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to kill.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap the job that you want to kill.

  5. Tap .

  6. Tap Kill.

    The job is terminated and no longer continues to execute.

Bypassing Options in a Job

This procedure describes how to bypass or ignore job options such as a resource, event, or time limit when you submit a job.

Begin

  1. Tap , and then tap Services.

  2. Tap the service that contains the job that you want to apply bypass options.

  3. Tab Jobs View.

  4. Tap Run Now.

Finding Neighborhood Jobs

This procedure describes how to find the successor and predecessor jobs of the selected job, which enables you to analyze your job flow based on the jobs related to the selected job. For example, you can search for prerequisite jobs, which are the predecessors of the selected job.

If there is a dependency on a folder, the Neighborhood displays the dependent folders as empty without its content.
