Using this method, the IOA Archive server allocates the devices (which may be defined explicitly, or implicitly by quantity) during initialization and de-allocates them when an appropriate operator command is issued. This guarantees the number of volumes which can be accessed concurrently for online viewing and immediate printing requests.
Devices that temporarily need to be used by other jobs or by started tasks should be disconnected from the IOA Archive server by an operator command.
This method is recommended to ensure a rapid response time when many requests are issued to different volumes.
