Using Specified PAGEDEF/FORMDEF

Under Control-D you can specify parameters FORMDEF and PAGEDEF without actually using an OUTPUT statement. When writing directly to a CDAM file, use the CDAM parameters PAGEDEF and FORMDEF. When you decollate a report from spool, PAGEDEF and FORMDEF are extracted from SPOOL. You can override the extracted values by specifying PAGEDEF/FORMDEF in the PRINT/CDAM PARMS field. PAGEDEF/FORMDEF specified in the PRINT/CDAM PARMS field also overrides the values specified for these parameters in the DD statement during CDAM file creation.

Note: This option is not supported when using the One-chunk printing method described in the Control-D and Control-V chapter of the INCONTROL for z/OS Administrator Guide.

This method is recommended for sites that use a large number of PAGEDEF and FORMDEF specifications.

When using this option, during the printing process Control-V looks for an OUTPUT statement name CONTROLD and automatically inserts in-line FORMDEF and PAGEDEF. This option utilizes the AFP.

A CONTROLD OUTPUT statement must exist under all printing environments (the Printers Control monitor, the IOA monitor, the TSO user, and so on). For site adaptations required for AFP support, see "AFP Support" in the Control-D chapter of the INCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide.
