This rule demonstrates how the Reconciliation facility can compare two files whose keys can be matched and produce a list of discrepancies. Both input files for this rule contain information about customer checks, for example, check numbers and check amounts, but the record formats of the files are not the same.
This rule uses the WRITE and MERGEX Reconciliation facility functions to detect non-matching records in two dissimilar check files. Matching is based on check number. The resulting report provides check number, check amount, and a field (file indicator) that indicates in which file the unmatched check appears.
