Workload Management

Workload Management grants you control over the volume of jobs running in your enterprise and their consumption of resources, without having to change the definitions of individual jobs. This control over job workload is accomplished by applying Workload Policies to groups of jobs. The Workload Policies contain rules that limit the number of running jobs or their resource utilization at any time periods that you choose to schedule.

In addition, you can subject rule enforcement to the dynamic state of load on your systems by associating rules with Load-Indexes, which reflect the load levels on the different LPARS in your systems. For more information, see Workload Optimization.

Use Workload Policies to

Workload Policies are enforced on active jobs at order time before submission. Modifications of a Workload Policy definition affect the Active Jobs File (AJF) after all Control-M calculations have taken place.

Workload filter

You control which jobs are impacted by defining Workload Policies that include filters based on job attributes. Jobs can be included in more than one Workload Policy, and one Workload Policy can apply to many jobs.

Limiting quantitative resources used by Control-M jobs

Quantitative resources of a Control-M job can be limited so that the job load does not take ownership over all of the resource instances, preventing other jobs from using them. This option is used to balance quantitative resource utilization.
