Step 8.1 – Load the media database

Select this step, and press Enter. The ADDVOLS job is displayed.

This job adds specific ranges of volumes to the Control‑M/Tape Media Database. It is possible to load test data before performing a conversion, and then load actual data after performing the conversion.

Note: This step is optional if you set DYNVOL to (Y,Y) in member CTTPARM. That setting indicates that you want Control‑M/Tape to dynamically check in volumes when they are used.

Edit the ADDVOLS job. For every volume range, the following must be specified:

Parameter

Description

FIRST

First volume serial number.

LAST

Last volume serial number.

MEDIA

Volume media type.

SCRATCH

Whether the volumes should be added as scratch volumes.

VENDOR

Vendor name. Optional.

Submit the job. All steps must complete with a condition code of 0.
