Table 125 Calculating the space allocation for the Trace file

Parameter

Description

Average number of data sets per volume

The average number of data sets per volume.

  • Maximum length: 2 digits.

Number of volumes mounted per day

The number of volumes mounted daily at your site.

  • Maximum length: 5 digits

Number of volumes scratched per day

The number of volumes scratched daily at your site.

  • Maximum length: 7 digits

Number of volumes changing location per day

The number of volumes that change their location each day at your site.

  • Maximum length: 5 digits

Number of days to retain the information

The number of days for which Control‑M/Tape is to retain information.

  • Maximum length: 3 digits.

Required block size

The block size that you require.

  • Minimum value: 728.
  • Maximum length: 5 digits.
  • Maximum value: 32400.
  • Default: 3600.

The space requirements are calculated based on the values you specify.

The following parameters determine the size of the Trace file:

Table 126 Parameters for size of Trace file

Parameter

Description

TRCBLKS

Number of trace blocks. This number depends on the number of records that are in the Trace File.

  • Mandatory

TRCBLK

Block size. This can be any multiple of 718 plus 10 bytes.

  • Mandatory
  • Minimum value: 728.
  • Maximum length: 5 digits.
  • Maximum value: 32400.
  • Default: 3600.

Trace file space requirements are automatically calculated based on the values you specify in the Control‑M/Tape Trace File Space Calculation screen.
