Activating more than one monitor (test/production)

Many users need to operate two or more Control‑D monitors simultaneously, for example, production and test. Control‑D does not support two monitors that update the same repository. Control‑D verifies that two monitors do not update the same repository by issuing an ENQ SYSTEMS command with the IOA QNAME.

To activate more than one Control‑D monitor in a single system, perform the following steps:

  1. Install a new IOA environment. For details, see the IOA installation procedure in Installing IOA and how to customize INCONTROL products in the "Customizing INCONTROL products" chapter in the INCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Customizing. If a new IOA environment was previously created to operate two or more Control‑M or Control‑O monitors, skip to step 2.

The following prefixes must be different for the two environments when installing a new IOA environment

  2. Perform Step 6.7 – Copy IOA started tasks into site library.
  3. If the new IOA environment runs on different computers than the original IOA environment, contact your BMC representative to obtain new passwords.
  4. Install another Control‑D.

Note: All editing of a member within a specific library must be performed on the specified new Control‑D library.

None of the members within the currently working Control‑D should be modified.

The following parameters must be different from the current Control‑D parameters when performing the new Control‑D installation:

  5. Perform Step 5.7 – Copy CTD started tasks to site library.
