Running the IVP

Initiate the IVP by submitting the job in the IVP member in the Control‑M JCL library.

While the IVP is executing the various tasks contained within this job, open the Active Environment screen (Screen 3) and observe the following processes as they take place:

You will be able to see how the status of each job changes as it passes through these stages. Additional points to watch for as jobs progress are described below.

From time to time, inspect the IOA Conditions/Resources screen (Screen 4) and the IOA Manual Conditions screen (Screen 7) to see how conditions and resources are added and deleted as jobs progress.

In addition, many of the groups and jobs that are executed send SHOUT messages from time to time to the operator’s console. Watch the MVS SYSLOG from time to time while jobs are being executed, to ensure that these messages are properly produced.
