Data steps

When a minor step is selected, a Parameter Data Entry screen is displayed as follows:

In this screen, a value can be specified for each parameter. In addition, each of the following symbols (when followed by a blank) can be used to specify values:

Table 5 Symbols for specifying values

Symbol

Action

=

Copies the reference value from the Reference field into the Value field in the data entry screen. This value is retrieved from the previously defined reference library.

Note: If the reference value is empty (null), the null value will be copied.

/

Sets the parameter value to the default.

?

Displays online help for the selected variable.

Certain parameters are not mandatory. If, however, a value is not found for a parameter that requires a value, a message is displayed. The error message lists all the mandatory parameters for which values are missing.

Note: To view all parameters in the data entry screen, scroll through the parameters until the "End of Parameters" line is visible on the screen.

Certain parameters, such as job card parameters, require values that are longer than the maximum number of characters that can be entered in the first type of parameter data entry screen. Therefore, another type of data entry screen is displayed for these parameters, as follows:
