Starting and Stopping a Specific Logical Device

When the device is started, the maximum number of usable devices is increased by 1 and an appropriate message is displayed on the operator console.

The maximum set by the START command cannot be greater than the number specified for Control‑V installation parameter MAXCONN.

Since the devices defined for the FTK type media are logical devices (that is, not physical devices), starting or stopping any specific device has the same effect as using the DEVQTY parameter to increase or decrease the maximum number of usable devices by one.
