By default, all migrated CDAM and Index files are cataloged, however, you can migrate these files to cartridge without cataloging them. When you use this option, the DEVICE_TYPE and VOLSER file parameters, as well as the file sequence number, are kept in the Control-D database instead of in the System catalog. This option is available for files that are migrated to one or two volumes only.

To activate this option, specify N in the CTLG field of the media line in the Migration Mission Definition screen. Large files migrated to more than two volumes will be cataloged even if this option is activated.

Using this option requires that

• when running the CTVCLMIG utility, the value of the TAPELIST parameter is set to YES to produce the list of expired cartridges for the Tape Management System.
• once this option has been used, you can only use Control-V multistage migration to move the migrated files from one volume to another. You must not move the migrated files from one volume to another outside of Control‑V.
