Control‑M/Tape uses the IOA Functional monitor to process certain action statements, such as DO CONDITION and DO SHOUT.

When an event such as a volume being checked in or a dataset being created occurs, and that event requires execution of an action statement using the Functional monitor, the Control‑M/Tape component writes a trace record that describes the needed action. The IOA Functional monitor reads the Control‑M/Tape Trace file and processes the specified records.
