System maintenance usually does not affect Control‑M. After system maintenance ends, activate the Control‑M monitor and resume production. However, when making a major change or upgrade to MVS or JES, it is recommended that you test the production environment before performing the upgrade.

If the MVS SPOOL is to be changed or reformatted during system maintenance, perform the following steps:

1. Shut down the Control‑M monitor.
2. Unload the content of the SPOOL to tape or disk

Before production resumes, perform the following steps:

1. Reload the SPOOL.
2. Reactivate the Control‑M monitor.

If the SMF-ID or the JES-ID are changed, see the INCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Installing > "Installation considerations" > "Adding, deleting and/or changing an SMFID in the computer list."
