Printing on AFP (APA) Printers

AFP (Advanced Function Printing presentation) is the standard IBM laser printing technology that supports printers such as the 39xx and 38xx family of printers, and uses APA (All Points Addressable) technology. Throughout this guide and in the Control‑D and Control‑V User Guide, these printers are referred to as AFP printers. The way in which Control‑D supports AFP printers is described. For additional information, including instructions for customizing, see the INCONTROL for z/OS Installation Guide: Installing and the publication, Implementing AFP in the Control‑D Environment.)

When a sysout is printed on AFP printers, two additional printing control parameters are added: FORMDEF and PAGEDEF. These parameters specify the member name of a form definition and page definition in the FORMDEF and PAGEDEF libraries, respectively. These parameters cannot be defined in a standard DD statement. Instead, they are specified in an OUTPUT statement that is referenced by a DD statement.

Support for PAGEDEF and FORMDEF in Control‑D is implemented by either of two methods.
