Considerations for when Control-M and Control-D are installed

The following issues must be considered if both Control‑M and Control‑D are being installed:

• When both Control‑M and Control‑D are installed, IOA installation parameter CTM must be set to Y (Yes). When CTM=Y, maintenance of conditions in the Conditions file is handled by the Control‑M New Day procedure and not by Control‑D. Therefore, it is recommended that the Control‑M New Day procedure always run before the Control‑D New Day procedure. The Control‑M New Day procedure CTMTDAY must delete all conditions from the previous year. The Control‑M New Day procedure can receive parameters that control the delete operation through DD statement DAFRMIN.
• You should clean the IOA Conditions file periodically using utility IOACLCND. Use only utility IOACLCND to clean the IOA Conditions because this file is used for both Control-M and Control-D. Use DD statement DACRSIN to assign the parameter control member.
• Utility IOALDNRS builds the Manual Conditions file from information in the Control‑M Active Jobs file, the Control‑D Active Missions file, and the IOA Conditions and Control‑M Resources files. However, the CTDLDNRS utility, which perform the same function, is supplied for compatibility with previous versions of Control‑D. The CTDNDAY procedure includes the CTDLDNRS step, which performs the same function after the Control-D missions are ordered.

  After any massive ordering of Control-M jobs or Control-D missions (including the Control-M and Control-D New Day procedures), the Manual Conditions file—common to Control-M and Control-D—must be rebuilt. To rebuild the Manual Conditions file, use either the IOALDNRS utility or the CTDLDNRS step. To assign the parameter control member, use DD statement DALNRIN.

  If the Control-D and Control-M New Day procedures start at the same time, you need to ensure that both procedures finish before running the IOALDNRS utility or the CTDLDNRS step. Use one of the following options:

  • Set Control-D New Day time (DAYTIMED) long enough after Control-M New Day time (DAYTIME) to ensure that Control-M New Day is ended.
  • Remove the CTDLDNRS step from the CTDNDAY procedure. Run the IOALDNRS utility after both Control-M and Control-D New Day procedures have finished.
